A recent Glassdoor survey, as reported by TechRepublic, revealed that technology companies are popular places at which to work!
In fact, the results from Glassdoor’s 11th annual Employees’ Choice Awards, which were based on the individual company and related job reviews, revealed that technology companies represented half of the Top 10 and a third of the Top 100. These ratings took into consideration career opportunities, compensation and benefits, work/life balance, senior management, culture and values, and satisfaction with the employer.
“In today’s tight labor market, job seekers are in the driver’s seat when it comes to deciding where to work and they want to know the inner workings of a company before accepting a new job,” said Glassdoor chief economist Andrew Chamberlain.
While many of the Glassdoor award winners were large tech companies, the same attributes apply to smaller tech companies, including startups and early stage growth firms.
At PurpleCloud, we enjoy a double dose of enthusiasm as the hospitality groups with whom we work continually shine in Best Companies to Work For lists and demonstrate their commitment to corporate excellence in many ways. These include community involvement, working to reduce our carbon footprint and joining the fight against human trafficking.
Diversity is also a major factor and, as reported by Lodging Magazine, 14 hotel companies were among the 2019 Forbes Magazine’s Best Employers for Diversity. The list recognizes organizations for their commitment to diversity and outstanding workplace culture.
No doubt, these are exciting times to be working in tech and hospitality. The advantages include making use of one’s specialist skills, opportunities for career progression, working with like-minded people and the excitement and promise of new technologies.
Moreover, so many advanced technologies are now moving from the research lab or development stage to practical real-world application, and many more are on the way. Among these exciting new technologies are platforms for hospitality work orders; guest interaction systems that go far beyond the simple exchange of texts; and panic alert devices for hospitality workers, linked to a hotel property’s emergency response system.
